Shellac, or gel polish, is a thin gel colour that is cured under a lamp and sits glossy and hard on your natural nails. At HER Beauty a Shellac manicure costs DKK 489 and takes 35 minutes. If you are already wearing gel polish, removal + new Shellac is DKK 514 and takes 45 minutes. It lasts up to 3 weeks. We are at Rosenørns Allé 4 in Copenhagen V, a few minutes' walk from Forum Metro.
It is for you if you like your own nail length and shape and just want colour that doesn't chip on day two. We are open Monday to Friday, 8 to 17, and we speak English and Danish, so you can explain exactly what you want. What your Shellac appointment includes
We start with your nails, not the colour. We shape and file them, take care of the cuticles and prep the surface so the polish grips properly. Then the colour goes on in thin layers, each one cured under the lamp. You leave with fully dry nails. No waiting with your hands in the air, no smudges when you dig for your keys.

French, nail art and Baby Boomer
Want more than one colour? Add an extra on top of your Shellac. French gives you the classic pale tips. Baby Boomer is the soft fade from pink to white, calm to look at and forgiving as it grows out. Nail art is for the photo you have saved on your phone: dots, lines, small details. Bring the picture and we'll work it out together at the table.

Shellac or gel nails?
Shellac is colour on your natural nails. It doesn't add length or build up the nail, so your nails keep their own shape and thickness. Gel nails are a different treatment: we build the nail in gel and can extend it. They last up to about 4 weeks and make the nail stronger.
If your nails are short or break easily and you want length, have a look at gel nails. If you are happy with your own nails and want colour that stays put, Shellac is the one. We explain the difference in more detail in Shellac vs gel.
Making your Shellac last
Shellac lasts up to 3 weeks. How good it looks at the end depends on how fast your nails grow and what your hands get up to.
- Wear gloves for washing up and cleaning.
- Don't use your nails as tools for cans, lids or stickers.
- Rub a little oil or hand cream into your cuticles every evening.
- Don't peel it off. It can take layers of your own nail with it. Book removal + new, or read our guide to safe removal.
