Keep Your Lash Extensions Flawless: Aftercare You NEED to Know

By HER Beauty

Listen to article

You've just gotten the most beautiful lashes, perfectly framing your eyes. That feeling is just amazing, isn't it? But now the real work begins to keep them that way. Without the right lash extension aftercare, your new friends can quickly lose their luster and fall.

The First Few Days: What You Absolutely Can't Do

The first 24-48 hours are critical for the adhesive. No water, steam, sauna, hot showers, or sweat. It sounds annoying, but it's super important! The adhesive needs to cure fully, and moisture can interfere with the process. Think of it like a freshly painted wall - you wouldn't touch it right away, would you?

Daily Routine: How to Care for Your Lashes at Home

Keep them clean: Lash extensions and oil aren't friends

We know it might feel weird to wash your lashes, but it's essential! Use a special oil-free lash cleanser - you can ask us what we recommend. Gentle cleaning removes makeup residue, oil, and dirt, which can otherwise break down the adhesive. Lash experts recommend cleaning them at least every other day.

Brush them gently: Don't forget your spoolie

Your little spoolie brush is your best friend. Gently brush through your lashes every morning and evening when they're dry. This helps keep them separated, fluffy, and facing the right direction. It also prevents tangling, which can lead to premature shedding.

Avoid oil-based products: Makeup and creams

This is a big one! Oil is the adhesive's arch-nemesis. Check all your facial products - cleansers, serums, creams, eye makeup remover - for oil-free formulations. Even mascara is a no-go, as it can clump and be difficult to remove without damaging your extensions.

Sleep Well and Protect Your Lashes

Your sleeping position: Can affect your lashes

Try to sleep on your back. If you're a stomach or side sleeper, your lashes can rub against the pillow, which can cause kinks or shedding. A silk pillowcase can also make a difference, as it creates less friction.

No pulling or rubbing: Be kind to your eyes

It sounds basic, but it's so easy to forget. Don't rub your eyes or pull at your lashes. This can not only damage your extensions but also your natural lashes.

With these simple lash extension aftercare tips, your beautiful lashes will stay fresh and gorgeous for much longer. Remember, regular fills are also part of the equation to maintain that perfect look. See you soon for your next fill!
