New Set or Infill? Knowing When to Refresh Your Nails

By HER Beauty

Listen to article

Have you ever looked at your beautiful nails and thought, "is it time for an infill, or should I get a whole new set?" You're not alone. It's a question we often hear here at HER Beauty. Choosing between an infill and a new set of nails is about more than just looks, it's about maintaining the health of your natural nails.

Why is regular nail maintenance so important?

Your nails grow, and that's fantastic! But it also means the product on your nails, whether it's gel or acrylic, gradually moves away from your cuticles. This creates a "stress point" further out on the nail, making your natural nail more vulnerable. Regular maintenance, like infills, is super important to keep this stress point stable. It prevents unnecessary stress and helps you avoid broken nails. Beauty experts emphasize that consistent care is key to strong, long-lasting nails.

When is a nail infill the right choice for you?

An infill is often your best friend if you want to keep your nails looking great and healthy. We usually recommend an infill every 2-4 weeks. Within this timeframe, your nails typically haven't grown so much that the stress point has become critical. It's the perfect solution when: - Your nails are still intact and strong, with no lifting or damage. - You're happy with your current shape and length. - You might just want to refresh the color or make a small change. An infill is quicker and often less expensive than a full new set, and it's a great way to maintain your style.

So, when should you get a new set of nails?

There comes a point where an infill just isn't enough, and a new set of nails is the way to go. Typically, that's after 2-3 infills, or if more than 4 weeks have passed. You should consider a new set if: - You have significant lifting, broken nails, or damage to your natural nails. A fresh start is best for repair and protection. - You're dreaming of a completely new shape, a big change in length, or a color that needs a clean base. - You simply need a total refresh and a break from your old look. Your nail technician might also recommend it, as we can see the condition of your natural nails underneath the product.
